Salted Caramel Pumpkin Pie Dip

I love making different dips, so I decided to make one last weekend when we went to a Halloween party.  My son is really interested in cooking and has been saying that he wants to be a chef when he grows up since he was 3.  For some reason I have trouble getting him in the kitchen so we take him to our local grocery store where they have cooking classes every few weeks.  It is always fun for him to make different things to take home and they always gear it towards the kids.
The last time he had cooking class, they made a tray of vegetables and made a pumpkin hummus to go with it.  The really neat thing is that they let each kid scoop out a pumpkin and they served the hummus in the pumpkin.  This got me to thinking about the dessert dip that I wanted to make.  I decided to make a pumpkin dip and serve it in a pumpkin.  I think this is a really cute idea for fall parties or as a centerpiece at your Thanksgiving dessert.
This Salted Caramel Pumpkin Pie Dip was so creamy and delicious and is the perfect dessert appetizer for your fall gathering.  I think it looked really festive served in a pumpkin and everyone liked it.  Everyone loved the dip itself and kept asking me for the recipe.  I love that the dip is really easy to make and I really like the flavor combination of the pumpkin and salted caramel.
I served the dip with ginger snaps and graham crackers.  I really liked the ginger snaps with the dip and thought that the flavors went really well together.  The dip would also go really well with fruit.  This dip was a really big hit at the fall party and I can’t wait to make it again to serve with Thanksgiving dessert.  I hope you try this delicious dip!

 

 

 

 

 
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup pure pumpkin
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 container (8 ounces) of Cool Whip
1/4 cup caramel ice cream sauce
3/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
 
Mix the cream cheese and pumpkin together.
In a separate bowl mix together the caramel ice cream sauce and 1/2 teaspoon of the sea salt together until combined.
Then gradually stir in the Cool Whip, powdered sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and salted caramel into the pumpkin cream cheese mixture, until combined.
If desired, drizzle additional caramel ice cream sauce and 1/4 teaspoon sea salt on top of the dip.  You can serve this in a pumpkin if desired. Chill before serving. Serve with ginger snaps, graham crackers, animal crackers, pretzels, vanilla wafers, or fruit.
