Cookies and Cream Apples

I cannot believe that fall is here.  Just yesterday it seemed like we were getting ready for summer and the beautiful summer weather.  Now it is starting to get cold out and we are getting ready for fall food.  My favorite part of the fall is all of the fall festivals and the fall food.  The best foods are anything with apples, especially apple cider and candy or caramel apples.
One of my favorite things to do in the fall is to make candied apples with my kids.  I think it is such a fun activity and has become one of our fall traditions, just like carving pumpkins.  I love that you can have so much variety, such as candied apples, caramel apples, and chocolate apples.  I usually coat a couple of the apples and then let my kids decorate them however they want.  This year I decided to make some Cookies and Cream Apples.  These apples combine white chocolate and my favorite cookie, Oreos.

These Cookies and Cream Apples are the perfect treat for fall and are a great project to make with your kids.  I decided to use a paper straw as the stick since I had them in the house, but you can also feel free to use popsicle sticks.  I then coated the apples in white chocolate and then rolled it in Oreo crumbs to create this delicious treat.  I used golden delicious apples, as they are my favorite, but you can feel free to use any variety of apples that you wish.
I really loved the taste of the white chocolate and Oreos with the apples.  They tasted great together and I love how easy these are to make.  I think it was much easier to deal with dipping the apples in white chocolate than to deal with caramel.  My kids loved making these and really liked rolling the apples in the Oreo crumbs.  I hope you make this delicious treat this fall!

Cookies and Cream Apples

  • 4 apples, washed and dried
  • 4 paper straws or sticks
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed Oreos

  1. Insert a paper straw or popsicle stick into the stem end of each apple.
  2. Cover a large plate or a cookie sheet with wax paper. Spray the wax paper with cooking spray and set aside.
  3. Put the crushed Oreos in a small bowl. Then melt the white chocolate chips in a medium sized bowl according to the package directions. Dip the apple in the melted white chocolate. Then move the apple over to the bowl with the crush Oreos and cover the white chocolate with the crushed Oreos. Put the apple on the plate and repeat with each apple. Refrigerate until the white chocolate is hardened.
