Maple Bacon Cinnamon Monkey Bread

One of my husband’s favorite foods is cinnamon buns.  He is a huge fan of cinnamon buns and used to eat at least one a day when we are in college.  He doesn’t do that anymore, but he is still a fan.  Another one of his favorite foods is bacon.  He loves almost anything that has bacon in it and like me he thinks that bacon makes everything better.
With Father’s Day coming up in a few weeks, I decided it would be great to make some great recipes with bacon in them.  Most guys I know love bacon and I decided to combine bacon with cinnamon buns to make a delicious breakfast or dessert for my husband.  This would be great for Father’s Day breakfast or for anytime of the year.  I have only had bacon in a sweet context a couple of times, but it goes perfectly in this monkey bread with the cinnamon and maple flavors.
This Maple Bacon Cinnamon Monkey Bread tasted amazing.  It was also easy to make and would be great for either breakfast or dessert.  I used refrigerated cinnamon buns to make the monkey bread, but you could also use refrigerated biscuits if you want less cinnamon flavor.  The cinnamon buns went great with the bacon and the maple syrup flavor.  These were so ooey gooey and coated with a butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup combination.  Just looking at the pictures of it is making my mouth water!
This would be great for Father’s Day or just because.  When I made it we had it for breakfast and then brought the leftovers to my parents for dessert, where it was quickly devoured.  The great thing is that the monkey bread is great served hot or cold.  I used maple bacon to add more maple flavor, but feel free to use any type of bacon that you want. If you love bacon and cinnamon buns, this is a must try recipe!

Maple Bacon Cinnamon Monkey Bread

  • 3 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls
  • 3/4 cup maple bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Evenly sprinkle 1/4 cup of the chopped bacon on the bottom of a greased bundt pan.
  3. Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a large ziplock bag and shake to combine.
  4. Separate each can into 8 cinnamon rolls and cut each cinnamon roll in half and roll each half into a ball. Place half of the balls into the ziplock bag and shake to coat with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  5. Place the coated cinnamon rolls in the bundt pan on top of the bacon. Then evenly sprinkle another 1/4 cup of the bacon over the coated cinnamon rolls.
  6. Then place the remaining cinnamon roll balls into the plastic bag and shake to coat. Place the remaining coated cinnamon rolls on top of the first layer of cinnamon rolls in the bundt pan. Then sprinkle the remaining chopped bacon on top of the second layer of coated cinnamon rolls.
  7. In a small bowl add the brown sugar, butter, and maple syrup. Microwave for one minute or until the butter is melted. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Pour the butter mixture on top of the coated cinnamon rolls in the bundt pan.
  8. Bake the monkey bread for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Cool for five minutes then invert the monkey bread onto a plate.
