Blueberry Lavender Lemonade

 
One of the most refreshing drinks in the summer is lemonade.  I always like to make fresh lemonade and have it when we barbecue or eat outside.  I usually combine the lemonade with different flavors.  I have always seen recipes for lavender lemonade, but had never tried it before.  Lavender lemonade always intrigued me so I decided to make some using one of my favorite lavender essential oil.  I also decided to add a blueberry simple syrup to the lemonade as well.
 
Lavender essential oil is one of my favorites and I use it all the time.  I really love the smell of lavender and it is such a relaxing scent.  I like to put it in the diffuser as we are relaxing at night.  Also lavender can be used to heal burns and is also great to use if you have a cold.  Lavender is also great in the bath and you can even use it to make bath products.  I have used the lavender oil to make a sugar scrub.  I love that essential oils can be used for so many things, including to help flavor recipes.
 
 
This Blueberry Lavender Lemonade is so refreshing and is the perfect drink for summer! I really loved the combination of the blueberry and the lemonade together.  I always think blueberries and lemons go great together.  Plus it makes the lemonade such a pretty color.  I also liked the lavender in the drink as well.  It added a great flavor to the lemonade and made it perfect for summer.  It also made the lemonade smell fantastic as well.  I used essential oils, which I think you should try, but you can also use dried lavender as well to make the lemonade.
 
Blueberry Lavender Lemonade

1 cup sugar
7 cups water
1 cup blueberries
1 cup lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
1-2 drops lavender essential oil
Ice

Combine the sugar, 1 cup of water, and the blueberries in a small saucepan.  Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring to make sure that the sugar has dissolved.  Boil for 1-2 minutes or until the syrup turns purple.  Remove from the heat and allow the syrup to cool for about 30 minutes.
Once the syrup has cooled strain out the blueberries (I just used a slotted spoon to remove the blueberries).  In a pitcher combine the syrup, lemon juice, 6 cups water, and the lavender essential oil.

Refrigerate until ready to drink.  Serve over ice.  Garnish with additional blueberries and lemon slices.
