Salted Caramel Gooey Brownies

One of my absolute favorite foods is chocolate.  For the holidays and my birthday my husband usually gets me chocolate along with my gifts.  In fact I usually ask for some chocolate.  With Mother’s Day coming up in about two weeks I thought it would be great to make a delicious chocolate treat.  I bet any mother would love these brownies, plus they would be great any time of the year.

I have made Gooey Bars before using cake mix and decided to replicate that idea using a brownie mix.  I added sweetened condensed milk and caramel to these brownies to make them extra gooey.  I also love the combination of chocolate with salted caramel, so I couldn’t help but add some sea salt to make these brownies have a sweet and salty flavor combination.

These Salted Caramel Gooey Brownies were amazing! I loved the combination of the salted caramel with the chocolate brownie.  They were so gooey and fantastic. My whole family loved these and I would love to receive some of these on Mother’s Day.  I hope that you enjoy these delicious brownies!

Salted Caramel Gooey Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 box (19 ounces) Brownie Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel bits or pieces (you can use pre-sold caramel bits or chop up pieces of caramel into pieces)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix the brownie mix, butter, and egg in a large bowl until a thick dough forms.
  3. Line a 8x8 pan with foil and well with cooking spray. Press about 2/3 of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. Sprinkle the caramel pieces, 1 teaspoon of the sea salt, and the chocolate chips evenly over the dough. Then pour the sweetened condensed milk on top.
  5. Roll the remaining dough into 9 equal balls and place the balls evenly on top of the sweetened condensed milk. Press down the dough balls to flatten.
  6. Bake the bars for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown on top. Cool the bars completely before serving.  If desired, sprinkle the remaining sea salt on top of the brownies.
