Crock Pot Honey Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs

When I am trying to make appetizers for a party or for a sporting event I always try to make things that are easy.  I love using the crock pot to make appetizers because that way you can make them ahead of time and they are hot and ready to eat when you are ready.  When I am throwing a party, I don’t want to spend time making all the appetizers while my guests are already there and I want the appetizers to be fresh and hot.  The same thing goes for when I am watching a big sporting event, like football, because I don’t want to miss one second of the game.
One of my favorite appetizers to make in the crock pot are meatballs. I do not eat red meat, so I always make chicken or turkey meatballs.  Since I am a big fan of teriyaki chicken, I decided to make teriyaki chicken meatballs.  These meatballs cook for about 8 minutes in the oven and then are mixed with the honey teriyaki sauce and the rest is easily done in the crock pot.
These Crock Pot Honey Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs were amazing. I  loved the combination of the honey and teriyaki together to make up the sauce.  They were easy to make and I loved how I could make them before hand and they were all ready to go when we were ready to eat.
These are a great appetizer for any party, but these would also be great for dinner.  We ate these as an appetizer while watching football and then ate the leftovers for dinner the next night over white rice.  They were really good over the white rice as well.  The whole family loved these and we will definitely be making them again!

Crock Pot Honey Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs

    Chicken Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Sauce
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a medium sized bowl, combine the ground chicken, bread crumbs, egg, and garlic powder. Use a spoon or your hands to make sure all the ingredients are combined.
  3. Roll into 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch meatballs.  This makes about 24 meatballs.  Place the meatballs on a cookie sheet.
  4. Bake for 4 minutes, then take out to flip the meatballs. Then bake for another 4 minutes.  The meatballs will be browned but not completely done.  They will finish cooking in the crock pot.
  5. Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine the chicken broth, teriyaki sauce, honey, minced garlic, and sesame seeds.
  6. Once the meatballs are ready place them in the crock pot.  Then pour the honey teriyaki sauce over them and stir to make sure the meatballs are mostly covered.
  7. Cook for 1-2 hours on high or 2-3 hours on low.  About 15 minutes before you are ready to serve add the corn starch to the sauce to thicken and stir to combine.  Continue to cook until the sauce thickens.  Garnish the meatballs with the additional sesame seeds.
