Chicken Bacon Barbecue Burgers

In my house we are a big fan of grilling.  I find that a lot of meat tastes better when it is barbecued on the grill.  Since I live in Pennsylvania it gets really cold and is hard to grill in the winter. Even so we try to take advantage of using the grill year round.  Every once in a while, even though it is cold outside, my husband will bundle up and go outside and grill.  Especially with the big game coming up we rather grill something to eat while watching football, than cook it inside.

I recently saw that Kraft Barbecue Sauce came out with a newly revamped line of barbecue sauces. Last weekend it was a little warmer, about 35 degrees, which is better than it has been, so my husband decided to grill burgers outside.  We used the new Kraft Barbecue Sauce on our burgers.

The new barbecue sauces feature high-quality ingredients, like tomatoes, sweet molasses, cider vinegar, and cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.  They also feature a new package design.  The Kraft Barbecue Sauce is available in eight varieties across smoky, sweet and spicy flavors: Original, Hickory Smoke, Sweet Honey, Mesquite Smoke, Sweet Brown Sugar, Sweet & Spicy, Spicy Honey, and Thick & Spicy.  Kraft Barbecue Sauce is sold at retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of $1.99 per 18-ounce bottle. Select flavors are also available in 28, 40, and 82.5-ounce varieties.

Kraft was nice enough to provide us with the new Evergriller Grill ‘N’ Flip Mitt.  This is a great mitt that is perfect for grilling enthusiasts.  The mitt is great for grilling in the winter because it helps to keep your hand warm as you are grilling.  It also would be great for grilling in any other inclement weather conditions. The Evergriller Grill ‘N’ Flip Mitt is a specially designed, fire-resistant grilling glove that protects the griller’s hands from both the heat of the grill and the chill of the outdoors during winter grilling season. The unique design of the top insert can hold many grill tools, making it easy to flip, stab, and baste with ease and precision.

We decided to make chicken burgers.  We used the new Kraft Barbecue Sauce and put barbecue sauce into our chicken burgers and also basted the burgers with the barbecue sauce while they were cooking.  We then put some additional barbecue sauce on the top of our burgers.  We used the original barbecue sauce, but I can’t wait to try some of the other flavors.  My husband used the Evergriller Grill ‘N’ Flip Mitt for flipping the burgers and basting and it helped to keep his hand warm in the cold.

These Chicken Bacon Barbecue Burgers were really delicious and made a great burger.  They would be perfect for any dinner or to eat while watching the big game.  These burgers start with ground chicken and also contain bacon and barbecue sauce inside of the burgers. The burgers were then grilled and basted with barbecue sauce as they cooked.  Then I added cheddar cheese to the burgers and topped them with more bacon and barbecue sauce and tomato.

I really loved the barbecue sauce in the burger and basted with it, it gave it great taste.  Also you can never go wrong with bacon inside of the burger and on top.  The more bacon the better!  These burgers were really good and they were so worth grilling in the cold to make them.  We will be making these again!

Chicken Bacon Barbecue Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon parsley
  • 1/8 cup cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Kraft Original Barbecue Sauce
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • Toppings
  • Bacon
  • Tomato
  • Kraft Original Barbecue Sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix together the bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, parsley, 1/8 cup chopped bacon, and 1/8 cup barbecue sauce with the ground chicken in a medium-sized bowl, using your hands. Form the burgers into 6 equal patties.
  2. Grill the burgers for about 5 minutes on the first side.  Once you flip the burger baste the top with some of the reserved barbecue sauce.  Then flip again in about 5 minutes and baste the other side with barbecue sauce.  Then add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each burger and cook until the cheese is melted and the burgers are done.
  3. Place the burger on a bun and top with tomato, bacon, and additional barbecue sauce.
