Watermelon, Mozzarella, and Blueberry Skewers

When I was in Miami for BlogHer Food I had this wonderful appetizer which combined watermelon and cheese.  I had never though to combine the two together and was a little skeptical at first, but it was really good.  My husband questioned me about it when I told him and he was skeptical as well, so I decided to make something combining the two flavors.
I decided to make a great appetizer for the 4th of July combining watermelon and cheese.  I decided to add blueberries as well to make it red, white, and blue.  This appetizer would also be good for any party or any time of the year.  For the cheese, I decided to use mozzarella as I thought that would taste really good with the watermelon and blueberry.
These Watermelon, Mozzarella, and Blueberry Skewers are a great appetizer for any party and they taste really good.  The watermelon, mozzarella, and blueberry go great together.  I drizzled some balsamic vinaigrette dressing and sea salt over the skewers which just helped to bring out the great flavor.  While this might seem like an odd pairing, it really did taste fantastic and would be a great festive appetizer for your 4th of July party.  I hope you try these great appetizers!

Watermelon, Mozzarella, and Blueberry Skewers

Watermelon, Mozzarella, and Blueberry Skewers

  • Watermelon, cubed
  • Fresh Mozzarella, cubed
  • Blueberries
  • Skewers or Toothpicks
  • Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing
  • Sea salt

  1. To assemble the skewers stack a blueberry on top of a mozzarella cube and place that on top of a watermelon cube.  Then put a skewer or a toothpick through the center of the stack.
  2. For added flavor, drizzle a drop or two of balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the stack and also drizzle a pinch of sea salt over each skewer.

With this appetizer, you can make as many as you want.  Cube as much watermelon and mozzarella as needed to make as many skewers as you want.
