Apple Butter Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast

Now that the weather is starting to get warmer outside and the flowers are going to start blooming, it is the perfect time for outdoor brunches with your friends and family.  Spring is the perfect time for casual brunches, with Easter and Mother’s Day coming up.  I love to make a nice brunch for my family on both Easter and Mother’s Day and it is part of our traditions to have a nice breakfast or brunch on those days.
When Musselman’s contacted me to make something for a spring brunch using their apple butter I was excited.  I really like using Musselman’s Apple Butter in recipes, especially breakfast or brunch recipes.  Apple Butter goes great in breakfasts. I decided to pair apple butter with one of our favorite breakfasts, french toast. Also, Musselman’s has teamed up with FTD.  Flowers make a great centerpiece for your table at brunch and FTD has really beautiful flowers.  I received the beautiful   Lavender Fields Mixed Flower Bouquet from FTD.  The flowers really brightened up our spring brunch.  
For brunch I made Apple Butter Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast with a Apple Butter Maple Syrup Spread on top.  This french toast was so delicious and was perfect for a spring brunch.  My whole family loved it.  The french toast tasted fantastic stuffed with the apple butter cream cheese mixture. It was great topped with powdered sugar or the apple butter maple syrup spread on top.  We all really loved the combination of apple butter and maple syrup in the spread and thought it would be good on pancakes and other french toast as well.
The french toast was perfect for brunch and really tasted fantastic.  It is great for when you have people over as well because it looks really fancy, but is not hard at all to make.  We can’t wait to make the french toast again.  I hope that you enjoy it!
Apple Butter Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast

Yield: Makes about 6 french toast sandwiches


  • Sliced bread (I used Italian bread)
  • 1/4 cup Musselman's Apple Butter
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Additional powdered sugar (optional topping)
  • Apple Butter Maple Syrup Sread
  • 1/3 cup Musselman's Apple Butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup


  1. In a small bowl mix together the apple butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until combined.
  2. Whisk the eggs, heavy whipping cream, vanilla, and cinnamon in a medium-sized bowl.
  3. Spread the apple butter cream cheese mixture on one side of two slices of bread and combine the pieces to make a sandwich. Dip the sandwich in the egg mixture and coat completely on both sides.
  4. Cook the sandwich on a large greased skillet over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until browned.
  5. Combine the apple butter and maple syrup in a small bowl and microwave for about 45 seconds.
  6. Spread the apple butter maple syrup over the stuffed french toast and top with powdered sugar, if desired.
