Baked Penne

This Baked Penne is a delicious and easy baked pasta that is combined with ground turkey and bacon and topped with cheese.
 

I am always looking for easy meals where I can prepare something, stick it in the oven and then not worry about it until it is done.   Easy meals especially are good for nights when we are busy and do not feel like cooking dinner.  We love pasta in this family, especially Penne, so I decided to make Baked Penne.  The nice thing about Baked Penne is that you cook the meat and the pasta and then combine everything together and bake it.  Then you have a great delicious meal without worrying about it too much and without much effort.
This Baked Penne was such a delicious pasta meal and we loved all the cheese on top.  I decided to add bacon to the Baked Penne, I mean you can never go wrong with bacon.  I thought that added some delicious flavor to the dish.  I also used ground turkey, but feel free to use ground beef if you prefer.  I thought that this was a great and delicious dinner that did not take too long to make and was relatively easy.  I hope that you enjoy it!

Baked Penne

Ingredients

  • 1 box (16 ounces or 1 lb) penne
  • 1 lb ground turkey, cooked
  • 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) spaghetti sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Make the pasta according to the directions on the box.
  3. Meanwhile, in a skillet, brown the ground turkey over medium-high heat. Add the garlic powder to the meat. Cook the meat until it is cooked through. Then drain the fat. Also cook and crumble the bacon.
  4. Meanwhile, simmer the spaghetti sauce until it is heated through.
  5. In a large bowl mix together the cooked pasta, cooked turkey, crumbled bacon, fresh parsley, spaghetti sauce, 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, and 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese. Spread the pasta mixture into a 9x13 dish. Add the remaining shredded cheese on top of the pasta mixture.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly. If desired add some more parsley to the top as a garnish.

Notes

I used whole grain pasta and ground turkey. If you prefer you can use regular pasta and you can also use ground beef instead of ground turkey.
