Baja Fish Tacos and McCormick Spice Giveaway

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of McCormick & Company for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am always looking for delicious and flavorful meals that I can make either on the weeknights after work or on the weekends.  On the weeknights we look for easy meals that I can feel good about feeding to my family and to my son.  Also the way I look at it is that the less time I spend making the meal, the more quality time I can spend with my family.
I love using spices in my dinners to make it more flavorful and I always use McCormick Spices.  McCormick identified the 10 most searched recipes and matched those foods with easy recipes using McCormick Spices.  These recipes can be found on  One of the top 10 searched recipes was for tilapia.  We are big fans of fish and my husband always told me he wanted me to make fish tacos so I decided to make Baja Fish Tacos using McCormick Spices.
I had never tried fish tacos before, but my husband was convinced I would like them and he was right.  I thought that these Baja Fish Tacos were fantastic.  The best part is that they were so easy to make. I think it is great you can make a delicious homemade meal without a lot of time or effort. This would be a great meal for a weekend or a weeknight meal.
My favorite part of the meal was the taste of the fish.  I think that sometimes tilapa can be bland if it is not cooked and seasoned right.  The McCormick Garlic Powder and Chili Powder gave the fish a great crust and coating and I think added immense flavor to the fish and the tacos.  Also the Chili Powder gave great flavor without too much spice.  My family all loved this meal and I think the fish tasted great in the taco with the crunch of the coleslaw.  This meal is definietly being added to our weekly meal list and we cannot wait to make it again.

Baja Fish Tacos

Baja Fish Tacos

  • 2 cups prepared coleslaw
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 pound tilapa filets
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons McCormick Chili Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon McCormick Garlic Powder
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 flour tortillas, warmed

  1. Mix the coleslaw and the fresh cilantro together in a medium sized bowl. Cover the coleslaw mixture and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  2. Mix the cornmeal, salt, Chili Powder, and Garlic Powder together in a swallow bowl. Evenly coat the fish with the seasoning mixture.
  3. Heat the oil on medium heat in a large skillet. Once the oil is hot add the fish and cook for 3-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown. The fish is done when it is golden brown and it flakes easily with a fork.
  4. To serve cut the fish into 8 equal portions. Serve the fish in the warmed tortillas with the coleslaw.
