Chocolate Pretzel Granola Bars

These Chocolate Pretzel Granola Bars are a delicious no-bake snack that combines chocolate with the saltiness of pretzels.

My husband is a teacher and has been off all summer.  Today is his first day back at school.  This week he has inservice days and then next week is his first week with students.  My son has been off from daycare all summer as well and he started back on Monday.  He seems to be having a great time at school.  I am always jealous all summer that my husband gets to stay home with my son while I have to go to work.
These Chocolate Pretzel Granola Bars would be great for a school lunch or an after school snack. Plus, this is a little bit of a healthier snack. They can be made over the weekend and used for the rest of the week.  I decided to make Chocolate Pretzel Granola Bars because I love the combination of chocolate and pretzels and thought that they would taste great together in a granola bar.
These Chocolate Pretzel Granola Bars were delicious.  They were a little crumbly,  but still tasted great.  If you don’t want them as crumbly, refrigerating them will help to bind them together a little more.  Make sure to press everything down in the pan so that they can bind together.  I loved the combination of the sweetness of the chocolate and the saltiness of the pretzel in this granola bar.  This granola bar would be a great snack for back to school.

Chocolate Pretzel Granola Bars

These Chocolate Pretzel Granola Bars are a delicious no-bake snack that combines chocolate with the saltiness of pretzels.

  • 2 cups quick oats
  • 1 cup chocolate Rice Krispies
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup pretzel pieces
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate, melted (optional)

  1. Combine the quick oats and the cereal in a large bowl.
  2. In a large saucepan combine the butter, brown sugar, and the honey. Stir over medium heat until melted and the mixture begins to boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Then add in the vanilla and stir until combined.
  3. Add the mixture from the saucepan into the oats mixture and stir until the oats and cereal are coated. Then stir in the cocoa powder until combined. Then add in the pretzel pieces.
  4. Press the mixture firmly into a greased 9x13 pan. Make sure to really press it down so that it all sticks together. Let it cool completely before cutting the bars. Once cooled, drizzle the melted dark chocolate on top of the granola bars, if desired.

Make sure to press the bars down into the pan so they bind together. If they are too crumbly, you can refrigerate them to harden them up.
