Funfetti Monkey Bread

Today I am participating in a virtual birthday party for Meghan at The Tasty Fork.  Make sure to stop by Meghan’s blog to check out all the great recipes from the virtual birthday party.  I decided to make this fantastic Funfetti Monkey Bread to help Meghan celebrate her birthday.
This monkey bread is made using refrigerated cinnamon buns that are covered in funfetti cake mix.  The monkey bread was so good and it even tasted like cake.  This would be great for breakfast, dessert, or for a snack and would be perfect for any birthday celebration.  I also love how easy it is to make the monkey bread.  I really loved the combination of the cake flavor with the cinnamon roll flavor.  I hope that you enjoy this delicious monkey bread!

Funfetti Monkey Bread


  • 3 cans Pillsbury refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 1 cup funfetti cake mix, dry
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rainbow jimmies (sprinkles)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon funfetti cake mix, dry (optional)


  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Combine the funfetti cake mix and sugar in a large zip bag and shake to combine.
  3. Separate each can into 8 cinnamon rolls and cut each cinnamon roll in half and roll each half into a ball. Place half of the balls into the zip lock bag and shake to coat with the funfetti cake mixture.
  4. Place the coated cinnamon rolls into a greased bundt pan.
  5. Then place the remaining cinnamon roll balls into the plastic bag and shake to coat. Place the remaining coated cinnamon rolls on top of the first layer of cinnamon rolls in the bundt pan. Sprinkle the rainbow jimmies over the coated cinnamon rolls.
  6. In a small bowl add the brown sugar and butter and microwave for one minute. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Pour the butter mixture on top of the coated cinnamon rolls in the bundt pan.
  7. Bake the monkey bread for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Cool for five minutes then invert the monkey bread onto a plate. Add the 1/4 teaspoon of the funfetti cake mix into two separate containers of the cinnamon roll icing and stir to combine. Melt the icing for 10 seconds in the microwave. The drizzle the icing over the monkey bread.
